A BALLINGRY couple have been jailed after a young girl was placed in a bath of scalding hot water and severely burned.
Despite suffering significant injuries, the child was not taken for medical treatment until the next day, Dunfermline Sheriff Court was told last week.
Christine Downie (30), of Kirktoun Park, put the little girl in the bath and was jailed for 28 months.
Steven Scott (30) was imprisoned for 10 months for his part in the incident.
Downie admitted that on 18th September 2013 at her home in Ballingry, she willfully ill-treated, neglected and exposed a child in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury by placing her in a bath of hot water and caused her to remain there, whereby she suffered severe burns to her severe injury.
She and Scott both admitted a second charge that, on the following day, they willfully ill-treated, neglected and exposed the same child in a manner likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury and, in the knowledge she had suffered severe burns, failed to obtain timeous medical treatment.
