URBAN Therapy, based at the Crosshill Centre, has a new recruit after her making a big impact as a volunteer.

Urban Therapy provides counselling training as well as a counselling service for people throughout Fife.

Jackie Stark has been volunteering with Urban Therapy for nearly one year. She comes from Lumphinans, and now lives in Hill of Beath. Jackie was introduced to Urban through Sandra Edwards, at the ‘Making it Work Team,’ with Opportunities Fife.

Said UT’s Rachel Crozier, “Jackie came with an extensive CV and a great deal of experience working in admin roles.

“After having taken some time out from work for health reasons she decided to volunteer to get out of the house and begin using her skills again.” Jackie told us, “I felt comfortable working here in this environment.

“There has been a lot of support and its local. I have found over the last year that it’s enjoyable and its good to know that my skills are useful to other people.

“The volunteering has helped me to get back into the ‘swing’ of things and I was really happy to be taken on in a paid role, especially with the good support that’s behind me”.

Added Rachel, “Jackie now forms part of a vital team and we wonder how we managed without her for so long!

“She handles everything from paper work to enquiries from students, to the public seeking counselling. We have always been impressed by her fantastic attitude and strong work ethic.

“She is committed to supporting the people from her own community and has fitted in perfectly. If anyone would like to enquire about any of the services we offer, call Jackie on 01592 869994. We are open Monday to Thursday”.
