A LEARNER driver in possession of cocaine was travelling in excess of 70mph in a 30mph speed limit on the B920, a Court heard.
Mark Lambert (22), of Polton Avenue Road, Bonnnyrigg, pleaded guilty, at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, last Wednesday, to driving dangerously on the B920, Lochgelly to Lochore road, on 15th November 2014, while only holding a provisional driver’s licence, without learner plates or accompanied by a suitably qualified driver.
He also pleaded guilty to driving at more than 70mph, where the limit was 30mph, while being persued by a police vehicle and repeatedly crossing the centre line of the road into the path of oncoming traffic where he did in fact collide with another car.
Lambert was also found to be in possession, on the same day, of the Class A drug cocaine.
In total Sheriff Craig McSherry fined Lambert £500, ordered him to complete 150 hours of unpaid work and banned him from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for one year. His agent Mr Runcie said, “Mr Lambert has been extremely anxious about the whole thing.
“He accepts responsibility for his actions. This was a bad piece of driving.”
