BALLINGRy man Brian Martin has appeared in Court in connection with a raid on the family of Stagecoach owner Anne Gloag last week.

Martin (57), who now stays in Errol, and Christopher McMultan (40), of Glencarse, appeared on petition at Perth Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The first charge alleged that on Sunday 18th January the men ordered David Gilfoyle and Joanne Miles to lie face down on the floor, bound their wrists and feet with tape and detained them against their will at their home at Drummond Street, Muthill.

Martin and McMultan are alleged to have pushed past Ms Miles to gain entry, presented knives at the couple, held a knife at Mr Gilfoyle’s throat and demanded entry to the post office below their home.

They were alleged to have shouted and sworn, repeatedly demanded money and threatened the couple before robbing them of a wallet and contents.

The second charge alleged that that the following day they turned up at the home of Sarah Salins, stepdaughter of Anne Gloag, and her husband Sandeep, and forced them to lie down on the floor and taped their wrists and feet and detained them against their will.

They then held a knife at the throat of Sarah Salins and robbed them of jewellery worth £200,000 and £4000 in cash.

Further, on Tuesday 20th January, they tried to pervert the course of justice by throwing stolen jewellery out of a car on the A92.

Martin also faces a fourth charge of driving dangerously on the same road near the Logie turn-off, by reversing into a marked police vehicle and driving towards an officer who had to take evasive action.

Martin, known in Benarty as The Hawk, and McMultan, appeared briefly in private and made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody for further examination.
