THE Urban Therapy Trade Show held at the Crosshill Centre proved to be a very successful venture.

It was geared at giving people the chance to go along and discover what Social Enterprise can do for them.

Urban Therapy has developed a highly successful SE which trains counsellors and offers assistance to people seeking advice.

The following Social Enterprises where also involved, Indentity Artworks, Families in Trauma, Benarty Toolshed, The Ecology Centre; and Brag.

“A fantastic day was had and it was great to welcome new faces!,” said Claire of Urban Therapy.

The Benarty Tool Shed, a community workshop based at BRAG Enterprise in Crosshill, is encouraging men who have time on their hands to make use of their workshop to make or mend something in time for Christmas.

Projects could include small dolls house furniture, go-karts for children to key holders or chopping boards for adults.

Tool Shed Project Officers, Mark Douglas and Robert Paterson, are on hand to give advice and help source materials. Tools are supplied as well as the tea and biscuits.

The Tool Shed is part of the growing social network of ‘Men’s Sheds’ that originated in Australia which are popping up all over the UK.

Mark commented, “The Tool Shed appeals to many retired people who are looking to get out of the house for a bit, meet other people and do something useful, but equally, it can offer young guys an opportunity to learn new skills which may lead to employment opportunities”.
