GREEN fingered communities celebrated at the Beautiful Fife 2014 awards ceremony, held in the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes.
Some 59 communities participated in this year’s campaign and each was awarded their certificate by Depute Provost Kay Morrison with several local towns and villages being successful.
Depute Provost Morrison commented, “What a delight it was to take part tonight; it’s great being able to celebrate all the hard work of the local communities.
“Special congratulations to all the category winners for their imagination and horticultural skills.
“Fife’s the real winner when our communities pull together to improve their local environments.” The communities were judged during the later part of July and were assessed on horticultural achievement, environmental responsibility and community involvement.
The overall local category winners for 2014 were: Silver gilt, Cowdenbeath; Bronze Ballingry, Silver Gilt, Cardenden; Silver Gilt, Crossgates; Silver Gilt, Glencraig; Silver, Lochore & Crosshill.
Keith Jackson, Fife Council Parks and Community Events Officer said, “Well done to everyone who took part in Beautiful Fife this year.
“Thanks also go to all the local volunteer judges, who gave of their own free time and expertise.”
