THE highly successful Benarty Fundraisers are needing more people to join them to help continue the successful trail of backing worthy causes in the Ballingry area.

Last year the Fundraisers realised £8,000 which saw Easter, Halloween and Christmas events for children plus the creation of Santa Benarty's brand new sleigh, and many key donations going to Benarty good causes.

Among the very popular events the Fundraisers are involved in is Splash for Cash on New Year's day at Lochore Meadows Country Park, and the Spooky Walk, which always has a host of scary moments for people going for a walk at the Meedies on Halloween.

The Fundraisers have been going for five years now but their original group of activists has thinned a little in recent times and the organising committee would welcome people who would like to get involved at their annual general meeting which will be held on Wednesday June 7 at 7pm at Benarty Centre.

James Fotheringham has been one of the original Fundraisers group who love raising money to help local good causes and he reported: "Through one reason or another our numbers have thinned a bit over the last couple of years and we could do with new blood with new ideas to keep up the momentum.

"We have a the two big events which are good earners but they take a bit of work. There is a decent number of people who offer to help on the days of events and their response is first class, but we also need people to help us come up with ideas for events which will boost the coffers.

"A few new members would make all the difference and we would welcome anyone who would like to help in any way to come to the agm on June 6, contact us on our Facebook page or call myself on 07801855566 or our chair Anne-Marie Fernie on 07870569583."

James added that the Fundraisers are currently looking at buying a mobile PA system, a generator, tables and chairs, and a gazebo, which local groups could use for anything their are holding.
