BALLLINGRY charity cyclist, Magali Christie was forced to postpone her charity cycle for two good local causes due to illness.

The French lady, from Benarty, was set to leave on Thursday for the 600 round trip from Ballingry to John O'Groats and back but she fell ill early in the week.

Frustrated Magali said on Friday: "I hate not being able to do what I have said I am going to.

"But I was being sick and had no energy so it would have been silly to attempt to set off on Thursday."

The 41 year-old is confident she can raise a lot of money for Meningitis Research and the Benarty Fundraisers will set off on Monday.

She added: "I feel I will be able to achieve the 600 miles by the end of next week.

"I hope the weather is reasonable for it has been a bit up and down and the wind direction will be key to the time it takes me."

All things being equal Magali should be back in Ballingry by the weekend.

She is passionate about the two causes she is cycling for. Friends, Nikki and Bryan Robertson, lost their baby twin Jenny, aged only 11 weeks, due to Meningitis and Septicaemia.

The whole Benarty community was touched by this terrible situation for a local family and she really wanted to do something for them.

Meanwhile the Benarty Fundraisers are all volunteers, spending lots of time and working hard to raise money for the community which she is proud to be part of and she wants to back them strongly.
