THE locally based Kingdom Off Road Motorcycling Club is running a special programme geared to reducing the amount of illegal use of motorbikes in woodlands and parks.

The programme that KORMC are running will be for the Lochgelly, Cowdenbeath and the Benarty area. Schools, youth groups, the police and education authority can make referrals at no cost.

The Club is based at the Kirkness track, near the Scottish Gliding Centre at Portmoak.

Said the Club's David Paton: "The aim of this referral programme is to reduce the amount of illegal off-road riding which cause havoc in our parks, on paths, in woodland areas and walkways.

"It is an educational programme where we discussed topics such as: victim perspective, the law and responsible riding, food and nutrition and first aid.

"This will be done bi-weekly on Saturday mornings and then the Saturday afternoons will be spent on the motocross track riding dirt bikes".

Added David: "The ideal referral would be someone who is involved in illegal off-road motorcycling or indeed somebody who is at risk of being involved in this in our communities. "However, it is not exclusive to that type of candidate and we would offer placements two other young people who need a chance and opportunities to help them thrive and develop.

"Once a young person has completed the course they will have a free membership to Kingdom off road motorcycle club".

KORMC use off-road motorcycling to help children and young people develop skills and positive attitudes to help them navigate challenges in life.

The Club strives to develop another purpose built all-weather indoor track and help young people access competitive motorcycling .

David went on: "We are also looking to start a Foundation Apprenticeship Scheme this year, for school leavers who are interested in motorcycle maintenance and mechanics".

KORMC last year we won the Scottish Sports Awards category for the best community organisation and this year won the Central Fife Sports Awards best team category.

In recognition of their achievements they have been praised in the Scottish Parliament twice last year and invited to the Queen's Holyrood Garden Party in July this year.
