THE 50th birthday of the Ladbroke’s betting shop in Ballingry proved to be a huge success for Benarty Gala day and Lochgelly High School Pipe Band.
These were the two charities to be backed by the big day at the Benarty Square betting shop which saw six hours of hectic fundraising.
The shop was packed all day as the things kicked off with two of the shop’s most experienced ‘punters’ putting on a £50 charity bet, Willie Clarke and Franci Rafferty.
Said shop manager Kellyann McDade: “Willie and Franci chose to place the bet on the 4.10 race at Doncaster but alas it did not come off as their horse came up short.
“However, there were a whole host of fundraisers going on at the shop and the day raised the amazing sum of £1,030.
“I must say that we received brilliant support from our regulars and the Benarty public in general and I would like to thank them for this.
“Also our staff were superb and really put in a power of work on what was a very busy day.”
She added: “It was a very fitting way to celebrate the shop’s 50th birthday.”
Among the visitors was Ballingry man Gordon Mackie who had created several pieces of artwork to brighten the shop.
