A GROUP which has been operating strongly in Benarty since 1991 is holding an important meeting on Monday to ensure the future.

Benarty Recycled Teenagers started with a weekend break in 1991 but soon developed into a group which were spending four weeks away annually.

However, last year one of their trips had to be cancelled due to a lack of numbers.

So they hope that things will again be on an upward curve in 2018,

The Recycled Teenagers are meeting on Monday at 2pm at Benarty Centre and the key agenda item is their September holiday.

Said BRT's Anne Hay: "Benarty Recycled Teenagers was started in April 1991 with a weekend break in Kingussie.

"It was such a success it became a week's holiday, then twice a year.

"As popularity built spring and autumn breaks were built into the programme and we even had a waiting list."

Currently the Benarty Recycled Teenagers have local pick-up points in Ballingry, Lochore, Crosshill, Lochgelly, Cowdenbeath and the Halbeath Park and Ride centre.

Added Anne: "Although its mostly older people these days a few of us have been there from the start and it is aimed a over 50s, both ladies and gents.

"We have our own dedicated coach itinerary and five excursions so there is a lot for people to enjoy.
