THE Ne'er Day Dookers of Cowdenbeath and Benarty had a brilliant time on Monday, as our pictures from Derek Johnstone show.

The Cowdenbeath Loony Dookers took on the River Forth, from their Ravenscraig Castle vantage point, in Kirkcaldy, and it was not long before the 'bravehearts' were enjoying bring 2018 in with a different style of approach.

Included in the line-up was Councillor Darren Watt, who charged into the surf and said later: "I am incredibly proud of everyone who took part and I am especially proud of the Cowdenbeath Civic Week Committee.

"Not just for organising this annual event but for their on-going commitment and dedication for our community throughout the year.

"A huge thank you must go to those who sponsored us. Their kindness and generosity will go a long way and make this year's Gala the biggest and best one yet."

The Civic Week Committee's Alex Haddow, who took a step back from tackling the surf this year, was delighted with the vast numbers that volunteered to back the Committee's programme for 2018.

Meanwhile at Lochore Meadows Country Park Benarty Fundraisers' Splash 4 Cash turned into a superb afternoon of fun.

There were people of all ages there to take part and they were not put off by the rather cold blast of wintry air.

Indeed, part of the dooking team were community policemen PCs Barry Smith and Gary Chrystal, who wasted no time into getting into the Loch.

Fundraisers' James Fotheringham was soon in the water too and he was delighted with the support this big fundraiser for the volunteers' received.

He said: "Great to see so many people of all ages getting involved."

And the winner of the prize for getting the Splash for Cash Ball, thrown into the loch at the start of the event was Kyle Malcolm of New Flockhouse.

More on both events next week.
