THE Benarty Food Bank was given a major boost by some of the younger members of the community.
On Wednesday the Food Bank volunteers were at Benarty Primary School to receive a huge supply of items thanks to the generosity of the pupils and their families.
Headteacher Lee-Anne McAuley described staff as being 'overwhelmed' with the volume of material brought into the school.
Ms McAuley said: "We did this as part of 'Our Benarty Way' concept and the generosity of the families was really staggering.
"We combined it with our Christmas Jumper day on December 15 and the volume of items, some 450, was quite amazing.
"I would like to thank the children, their parents and the staff for their efforts in making this possible."
The Food Bank team was delighted to receive such a volume of items at what is a very busy time of year.
