A BALLINGRY teenager caused £370 worth of damage by smashing the windows of two properties.

Louisa Smart had been drinking heavily at the time.

The 19-year-old, of Navitie Park, previously admitted that on February 12 at a different property on Navitie Park, she did without reasonable excuse, wilfully or recklessly destroy or damage the property belonging to another and did smash three panes of glass within a door by striking them with a brick and at her home address did without reasonable excuse, wilfully or recklessly destroy or damage the property belonging to another and did throw a garden ornament at a double glazed door window smashing said window and breaking said ornament.

Also, on March 19, at her home address she did behave in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that he did shout, swear, act in an aggressive manner and utter threats of violence and did assault her mother and did kick her on the body, and did commit these offences whilst on bail.

Depute fiscal, Carrie Stevens, said that on the evening before February 12, Smart had been drinking alcohol at a friend’s and stayed over there.

When they woke up the next morning an argument began between Smart and a friend that moved from the house into the street.

The witness went back to their home address, but the accused followed her shouting and smashed a window by throwing a brick through it, costing £150.

After, Smart went back to her own home and tried to gain access. She was banging on the backdoor and then threw a garden ornament through it.

Defence solicitor, Ian Beatson, said: "The incident was earlier in the year. At that period, she was drinking heavily and was not getting on well with her mother.

"Her relationship with her mother is still strained but not severed. She is actively seeking employment.

"In terms of repayment she has sorted things out with her mother."

Smart will have to undertake 120 hours of unpaid work and 12 months of supervision as part of a community payback order.

She will also have to pay £150 in compensation. Sentence was deferred for three months for other matters.
