A BALLINGRY electrician became violent towards his wife after she accused him of being unfaithful.

Richard Scott became abusive on two separate occasions just six weeks apart.

He appeared for sentencing on Wednesday at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

Scott, 54, of Martin Crescent, previously admitted that on July 12 at Sinclair Drive, Cowdenbeath, he did behave in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that he did throw a glass tumbler which shattered on impact with a radiator, tear a curtain and punch a television causing it to smash, and that the aforesaid offence was aggravated by involving abuse of his partner or ex-partner.

And did assault his partner by thrusting a broken television at her whereby shards of glass struck on the face to her injury.

He also admitted that on August 27 at Sinclair Drive, he did behave in a threatening or abusive manner which was likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm in that he did swear at his partner, throw a glass at a television causing the television to smash, throw glasses on the floor causing them to smash, throw a vase, pour tobacco on the floor and throw a bowl causing it to smash.

And he did assault his partner and did repeatedly push her, whereby she fell to the floor.

Depute fiscal Carrie Stevens said: "The complainer and accused had been married for three years.

"On July 12 they had been talking and at 10.20pm an argument began between the couple.

"Scott pushed the TV towards his wife which struck her on the chin.

"On August 27 the couple had again been talking late that evening when an argument began.

"Scott threw a glass towards the TV causing it to smash.

"He also smashed two wine glasses, a vase and threw tobacco on the floor.

"He also pushed his partner and as a result she landed on her shoulder."

Defence solicitor, Barbara Collie, told the Court these incidents happened after Scott was accused of being unfaithful.

"But he said there was no truth in that," she said.

"He accepts that he was under the influence on both occasions and his solution is to simply not consume any more alcohol.

"His wife has stated that she wants him back."

Sheriff Charles Macnair told Scott: "This was two incidents of a similar nature and just six weeks apart.

"Domestic abuse of this sort will not be tolerated."

Scott was ordered to perform 90 hours of unpaid work and 12 months supervision.
