BENARTY Fundraisers have received a big boost thanks to the efforts of some local runners.

On Friday July 7 The Meedies Running Club set off on a 24 Hour Relay around the loch at Lochore Meadows Country Park.

Runners took it in turns to run around the loch in pairs until from 7pm on the Friday to 7pm on the Saturday.

With everyone's hard work they managed to raise an amazing £2,530 for Benarty Fundraisers. All money will be kept in the Benarty area and will be used in schools, for kids party's and many more activities and causes.

The Fundraisers' James Fotheringham said: "This was an amazing venture by the Meedies Runners and we cannot thank them enough.

"This money will help us back a host of local causes in the Benarty area."

The Meedies Running Club would like to thank Peter Murphy, of Benarty Fruits, for kindly donating his time free of charge to supply hot food and drink to all the runners.

Thanks to all the public who donated to each of the runners and the Lochore Meadows Park staff who allowed the event to go ahead.

The event will be taking place again next summer and the club expect it only to be bigger and better and would love the same support from the public as they received this year.

The Meedies Running Club is free and anyone can join. Meeting at the Boathouse (Outdoor Education Building) situated at Lochore Meadows Country Park, every Monday and Wednesday 6:45pm for a 7:00pm start.
