THE children of Benarty and St Kenneth's Primary Schools showed a real aptitude for growing when they were the guests of the local Environment Group.

With the held of Benarty Enviro Group's Mary Ann Rafferty and Frankie Hodge the youngsters were able to plant geraniums and begonias in the raised planters at the Miners Memorial Garden in Ballingry.

The planting was done in the closing two weeks of the school term and the youngsters are looking forward to seeing their plants grow over the next few weeks.

Said Mary Ann: "The children were really attentive to what they were trying to do and made a very good job of it.

"The plants will be shooting up and hopefully the children will pay visits to the garden over the summer holidays and see who they are developing."
