A BALLINGRY student has her sights set on organising festivals after helping to put together a successful travel and tourism exhibition.

Laura Dickson, 23, is studying for an HND in Events Management at Fife College and her group was given six weeks to make it happen.

The exhibition, attended by Jet2, Historic Environment Scotland, Prestige People Scotland and the Scottish Deer Centre, gave organisations a chance to explain what makes them successful in a competitive industry and the different job roles available.

Laura said: “I’d definitely recommend this course to anyone looking to get experience in organising and managing a range of different events.

"It has made me realise that I would like to specialise in larger events such as festivals and big conferences etc.

"I am progressing on to the BA (Hons) Business Management course at Fife College after the summer so hopefully this will stand me in good stead to get a job in such a competitive industry.”

Students were briefed on how to manage the event, which acted as a recruitment fair and also informed people about what courses are on offer at the college.

Lecturer Audrey White said: "I am extremely impressed and proud of the students for managing to organise such a great event in such a tight time frame.

"It isn’t an easy task but they were all extremely professional and I’m glad they all found it such an enjoyable process.

"We have received great feedback about the event so I’m looking forward to hopefully making this an annual event. ”
