MP Roger Mullin has praised the work of Ivan Wood & Sons, Fruit & Vegetable Wholesaler based in his constituency in Ballingry.

The family run business, managed by director Malcom Wood, currently employs 29 people, and will be expanding its operations which they hope to include a fruit and vegetable hypermarket along with an interactive education centre for children to learn about farming and recycling, creating a further 50 jobs.

The firm uses only locally sourced produce from local farmers when in season and also has a patented water filtration system to ensure that all its waste is 100% recyclable.

The new buildings on its existing site will also be designed to ensure that it has a neutral carbon footprint.

Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath MP, Mr Mullin said: “It was a pleasure to meet with Malcom and see the genuinely innovative way the business operates up close.

"There is no doubt that Malcolm and his staff are leaders in green innovation and are setting new standards in waste management.

"I was also delighted to hear of the firm’s expansion plans which will bring much needed jobs to the constituency. I wish everyone at Ivan Wood & Sons the best of success as these expansion plans progress and very much look forward to returning in the future”.

Director, Malcolm Wood added: “I was delighted to welcome Roger to Navity Farm to show him around and discuss with him our plans for the future.

"It is an exciting time for all of us at Ivan Wood & Sons and it is great to have Roger’s support and advice. I look forward to welcoming him back in the future to visit our expanded premises".
