LOOKING ahead Willie Clarke, the former chairman of Cowdenbeath Area Committee, believes that if Fife Council and the communities of Benarty, Kelty and Lochgelly, work together the changes in Lochore Meadows Country Park can be stunning.

He said this week: "Often the Kelty end of the park is a bit forgotten about.

"It has a superb nature area up that part of the Meedies and a lot of space that could be developed.

"A big element in this would be the connecting road from the M90 to the Kelty end of the park, this would open it up further and allow people to come in to the facility from the north west sector rather than having to drive to Crosshill.

"There are already some excellent cycling facilities and of course the plans are taking shape for the loop at the Lochgelly end which will make it an real hub for the sport".

But he added: "What we really need to make the park even better is a camp site and hotel accommodation with perhaps log cabins.

"Ideally we need facilities to allow people to stay on site to enjoy themselves and take part in all the activities that the Meadows has to offer."

He said that the loch was a stunning feature also and surely the next stage had to be to introduce facilities to allow people to stay on the facility.
