A Cardenden teenager, who pushed his partner causing her to hit her head off a wall, is heading to detention if his attitude does not improve.

Owen Hughes, 19, of Pilgrims Way Avenue, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, where he was told he was on his final chance.

He had previously been put on a community payback order but has been mouthing off at social workers making “appalling” comments to them.

He previously admitted that on January 29 at his home, he repeatedly shouted and swore at his partner, made threats of violence and behaved aggressively towards her.

He also assaulted her by seizing her on the body, repeatedly pushed her, pushed her against a wall and caused her to strike her head against a wall.

He had been put on two community payback orders with a total of 270 hours of unpaid work and three years of supervision.

When he returned to court after breaching the orders, Sheriff Susan Duff commented: “It’s quite shocking the attitude he’s displayed to the social workers trying to help him.”

Defence solicitor Alan Davie conceded comments made by his client had been “quite appalling”.

After hearing Hughes was now sorry for the comments the sheriff demanded to know if he was going to apologise and he said he would.

The orders will continue for now but the sheriff called for another review on May 24 and told Hughes: “Be under no illusion, this is your last chance.”
