A PROJECT which will bring over £600,000 of improvements to the A92 at Cowdenbeath will begin this weekend.

Resurfacing work on more than 950 metres of carriageway and the installation of barrier infrastructure will begin on Sunday and continue until Tuesday, May 14.

Carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, the improvements will be undertaken on the eastbound carriageway to the east of Cowdenbeath junction.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, preparatory barrier works will take place under lane closures from 7.30pm this Sunday (April 28) to 6.30am on Friday May 3, with a break for the bank holiday weekend.

The Cowdenbeath junction eastbound A92 on slip road will be closed during the contraflow. Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto the westbound A92 carriageway to turn at Crossgates and return eastbound.

The Lochgelly junction eastbound A92 off slip road will also be closed during the contraflow.

Traffic for Lochgelly will continue to Chapel Junction at Kirkcaldy, where they can turn to return westbound on the A92 and exit at the Lochgelly junction westbound off slip road.

The resurfacing will benefit more than 16,000 vehicles who use this route each day, creating a smoother ride for motorists and reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.

All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
