A 52-year-old Cowdenbeath man sent a death threat to his former partner.

As a result, Kevin Rankin, of King Street, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He admitted that on February 4 he sent abusive and threatening text messages to his former partner.

Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said that the couple had been in a relationship for four years up to November.

The woman had described the relationship as “toxic” by the end.

In February, Rankin sent his ‘ex’ a message saying, “Hope you have a good night, tomorrow you’re dead, you slag.”

The woman was fearful and went to her mum’s to spend the night there.

Sheriff Garry Sutherland imposed a structured deferred sentence to run until July 17.

He also put Rankin on a three-year non-harassment order.
