THE bear necessities of a hug from a teddy are coming to troubled kids in the Cowdenbeath area after police were overwhelmed by the response to an appeal.

Officers had asked for the cuddly toys to help comfort young children affected by crime.

More than 480 specially knitted bears have now been handed into the town’s police station for Fife Police’s Trauma Teddy appeal.

In a link up with the Children First charity, officers across Fife have been asking for the donations of the special creations which, it is hoped, will help youngsters who have been affected by crime by taking their focus away from any upsetting circumstances and providing some cheer.

Donations need to be created from an official pattern which can be obtained from local police stations or the Police Scotland website.
