RESIDENTS in the Cowdenbeath area said they endured more than 10 YEARS of their bins being missed or not collected.

Fife Council upheld their complaint and apologised, with refuse crews now "made fully aware of the issue".

The issue was flagged up at the Cowdenbeath area committee.

The complaint from the residents, who asked to remain anonymous, was in a report to the councillors and said: "We moved into our property in May 2007 and our bins have failed to be uplifted on a regular basis throughout the 10 years and the problem has raised its ugly face again.

"Our green bins were not uplifted a week last Thursday and to say that your representative was unhelpful is an understatement.

"Please advise why you have been unable to solve this problem that, again, started back in 2007."

The council said action had been taken and there had been "no reoccurrence" of the problem.
