THE search is on for the George Bird Community Champion of 2018.

The Central Fife Crime Prevention Panel has launched the search for the person to succeed Cardenden man Willie Duncan who won the gong last year.

The Panel is looking for the fifth winner of this award which combines community safety, crime prevention and care of the countryside.

Panel vice chairman, Dave Roy said, "We are looking for the public to nominate candidates for the award.

"People who are keen on looking after the greenery of their communities and work hard to dissuade those who do things like drop litter are the sort of people we are for."

He added: "Our previous winners have been people who have been happy to donate a lot of their own time to helping their community in many ways and also have an interest on community safety and we are searching for the 2018 winner of this award.

"There will be people out there who would be very worthy of winning this so we would welcome nominations to come forward by October 12."

Send nominations to the Times Office, 17 Bank Street, Lochgelly KY5 9QQ.
