DUE to a data glitch, Fife Council is asking residents in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area to re-check their new bin collection dates by visiting www.fifedirect.org.uk/bincalendar

Anyone who viewed or downloaded their online calendar during the period 13 - 22 August needs to review their bin pick-up dates.

The downloadable calendar (PDF version) only shows bin pick-up dates from September 17 2018 onwards (please ignore information prior to this date).

Both the online text and PDF bin calendars need to be re-checked by residents for accuracy.

Almost 60,000 households will see a change to the day they receive recycling and waste collections, from the week commencing September 17. Landfill bins have been tagged to inform residents about their new online collection calendar.

Shaun Kenyon, Waste Operations Manager, Fife Council, said: “Due to a data error, some calendars were not correctly updated when we started tagging landfill bins. I fully apologise to all residents affected for any inconvenience caused, and I am asking people in the West Central Fife to please re-check their bin calendar if they downloaded it between 13 and 22 August.

“I would also like to reassure residents that the calendars are now correct, and that we are on-track for the changes to bin pick-ups to start on September 17.”

Fife Council has had some calls and some enquiries via social media from residents about their bin calendar, and steps were taken as quickly as possible to put these right.

Only some calendars in the West of Fife have been impacted by the data error.

Most bin calendars in the West of Fife are changing, and the new collection calendars are now online, and are downloadable. If your bin is tagged, then you need to go online to access your electronic bin calendar to see if your pick-ups have changed.

Residents can find out which day their household waste and recycling bins will be collected by simply entering their postcode. Once you have selected your property, you can access/ download a copy of your calendar, or print it out.
