COWDENBEATH and Kelty councillor, Alex Campbell, is urging the people of the town to come forward and join the community council.

Over recent months the organisation, which has played a major role in spearheading a number of projects which have made a real difference to Cowdenbeath, has lost several members through different reasons.

Councillor Alex Campbell hopes that people will come forward to get involved.

He said this week: "Cowdenbeath Community Council is a very strong and active body which has helped guide a number of good projects which have seen a lot of positive things happen in the town.

"Unfortunately in the past year several people have had to leave through different reasons and it has left a number of gaps in the ranks.

"The organisation needs three or four more people to strengthen their numbers.

"Involvement in the community council is about attending the monthly meetings (which are on the third Thursday) and also helping out with various events that come along each year."

Anyone who would like to consider joining Cowdenbeath Community Council could get information from the Brunton House Fife Council base in the town.

Councillor Campbell added that community council elections would be taking place later in the year and he hoped that plenty of people would be prepared to serve on all the community councils of the Cowdenbeath and Kelty ward including Crossgates, Hill of Beath, Kelty and Lumphinnans cc's.

He concluded: "Community councils are an important part of the villages and towns of the entire area and hopefully there will be plenty of people prepared to get involved."
