HAVE you thought about exploring the Fife Pilgrim Way?

Why not go along and join a family friendly walk organised by Benarty and Lochgelly Churches Together.

On Saturday September 1, BLCT have organised an event which will be following a local part of the new Fife Pilgrim Way, a route based on the several different old medieval pilgrim routes to St. Andrews.

One of the people involved in the project is Rev Margaret Dineley, of St Finnian's Church in Lochgelly who said: "We will meet at 1.45pm for 2pm in the car park at the Kelty entrance to Lochore Meadows Country Park.

"The first part of the walk, which is approximately two miles long, will go through the Country Park on level paths suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.

"Points of interest will be indicated along the way and there will be a quiz for children".

Refreshments and activities will be available at a tent near the Willie Clarke Centre in the park.

Keen walkers are encouraged to extend their walk from the Centre to Harelaw Cairn, a distance of two miles there and back, with a gentle slope by the Cairn and an extensive view east from the top. Added Margaret: "The event will finish with celebratory worship at our tent at around 4.30pm.

"Bring all the family, tell all your friends and workmates and remember to wear appropriate clothing, sensible shoes and bring waterproofs."

If you have any questions, please contact Margaret on 07931 483906. Everyone is looking forward to seeing you on the day.

Starting at Culross and North Queensferry, the 104 km/64 mile Fife Pilgrim Way path takes in spectacular views of the Highlands, the Coast, Forth and Tay Estuaries and the Lomond Hills.

It passes medieval landmarks, industrial landscapes and historic picturesque villages on its way to St. Andrews.

The route uses Fife’s existing network of rights of way, paths and tracks to offer varied opportunities for long distance, multi-day route supplemented by shorter walks and circular routes.
