A MAN who breached his court order twice has been sentenced to 12 months supervision.

David Philp, 51, now of Simon Crescent, Leven, previously admitted that on November 4, 2017, at Tesco Stores, Winterthur Lane in Dunfermline, he did steal a quantity of alcohol and on July 18, 2016, at The Co-operative Group, Bank Street, Lochgelly, he did steal a quantity of meat and coffee.

When discussing what options were available to the Court, defence solicitor, Gordon Martin, said his client had declined an offer to be placed on a drugs testing order.

He said Philp had suffered from a number of health problems due to his addiction to drugs. He had been hospitalised and one occasion could have lost a leg.

"This has motivated him to do something about it and he tells me that he is nearly drug free," said Mr Martin.

Sheriff Craig McSherry placed Philp on a new community payback order with 12 months supervision.
