A MAJOR appeal has been launched by a Cardenden family to raise £100,000 so that nine year-old Alfi can be allowed to walk normally.

The family has set up a Just4Children page, which needs public support so that Alfi can receive life changing SDR treatment, to give him the chance of walking unaided.

Said Alfi's mum, Chloe Taylor: "Alfi is just nine and was born unexpectedly early on May 31 at a frightening 29 weeks gestation.

"Alfi was to spend the next six weeks of his life in the special baby unit.

"Adjusting to the shock of the early arrival of our beautiful little boy we were then faced with some devastating news. Alfi had cysts on his brain but also suffered a bleed on the brain as well, resulting in our son being diagnosed with cerebral palsy".

Added Chloe: "Just4Children needs to raise funds to send Alfi over to the St Louis, USA, to have the life changing Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) operation that will give him a chance of walking unaided and the confidence to live a more independent life.

"So, please we are asking for your help, to help my son gain a more enjoyable, flexible, pain free life".

Added Chloe: "We have the Just4Children page but we are hoping to hold in the coming months such things as a race night, coffee mornings, kids fun day, adults' nights, quiz nights, sponsored walks, swims, cycles, discos, bag packing, absolutely anything. I also have a text code to donate £5.

"Our target is geared towards heading to raising £100,000 for his life changing treatment, the SDR operation."
