THE Mossmorran Community Fund is 'open' for applications from local groups with a closing date of September 28.

The minimum level of award that can be applied for is £250 and the maximum is £1,000.

The Mossmorran Community Fund is a charitable fund to support community groups that benefit residents living in the in the area served by the Hill of Beath, Cowdenbeath, and Crossgates and Mossgreen Community Councils.

The Fund is provided by the Mossmorran Wind Farm Ltd, the owner of the two wind turbines at Mossmorran and is managed by a charity, Foundation Scotland (charity no. SC022910) dedicated to strengthening communities and awarding grants that make a genuine difference to the lives of local people.

Said a spokesperson for the Community Fund: "Groups and organisations working to benefit people in the Hill of Beath, Cowdenbeath, Crossgates and Mossgreen Community Councils can apply for grants.

"The group must have a constitution and be set up on a not-for-profit basis but doesn’t need to be a registered charity.

"Groups without a representative membership structure, that unduly restrict their membership and/or where the committee or board is not elected by, or otherwise accountable to, a wider group of people may not be supported. Applicants need to provide their latest set of accounts signed by an independent/third party."

Go to www.foundationscotland.org.uk/mossmorran to apply online or download an application form. Or telephone 0131 524 0300.

Please ensure the project you are applying for does not start before November 6 as this will make your application ineligible.
