THE winner of ALDI's Supermarket Sweep at the Cowdenbeath Stenhouse Street store has raised an amazing £361.12 for a local foodbank as well as picking up the same value in delicious products for herself.

Mary Boyd, from Cowdenbeath, was chosen as the winner of an instore competition to take part in a five-minute trolley dash for charity.

As well as taking home a trolley full of treats, ALDI matched the value of her successful haul and donated the total to her nominated charity, the Cowdenbeath Food Bank at the Fountain.

Mary Boyd said: “I had a fantastic time filling my trolley with my favourite ALDI products as part of the Stenhouse Street store supermarket sweep!

"I can’t believe how much I managed to take home with me, the cherry on top is knowing it’s all for an amazing cause! I’m really pleased ALDI are going to donate the value of my haul to Cowdenbeath Foodbank, I couldn’t be happier!”

Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director, ALDI Scotland, said: “We created the ALDI Supermarket Sweep as a fun way for our shoppers to help support their local community and get shopping for themselves at the same time.

“After being chosen as our local winner, Mary has managed to snap up many of her favourite treats and helped raise a huge amount for her local community foodbank.”

Jonathon Astel, on behalf of Cowdenbeath Food Bank, said: “On behalf of the foodbank team I would like to thank Mary for doing such a great job and for choosing Cowdenbeath Foodbank as the chosen charity.

"A very special thanks to ALDI for organising such a great event and making it all possible. This is a very generous gesture and the money donated will greatly help us maintain our service.”
