MOVES are being stepped to get enough money together to allow the management of Lochore Meadows Country Park to be able to buy the Drivedeck which will open up the park to severely disabled children.

Ian Laing, the Park manager, and his team need to raise £10,000 by the end of August to get be able to buy the machine that they currently have been loaned.

The Drivedeck mechanism is a machine which is easily controlled by disabled kids as it follows a rail which has been laid in the Park and can take them down to the loch side and to various features in the Meedies.

Local campaigners, Brian Menzies and Willie Clarke, were in the Park on Thursday when they saw disabled kids benefitting from the Drivedeck.

Said Willie on Friday: "The joy that the Drivedeck allowed the kids as unbelievable and made everyone there on the day decide that all the stops should be pulled out to get the funds raised.

"We have been dropping off leaflets in Benarty shops and businesses and we hope that people will make donations that they can afford, to allow this project progress.

"It would be good if the business community would get involved to back this Drivedeck project.

"We will also be contacting Cowdenbeath Area Committee to ask for the councillors' support."

Anyone who would like to back the Drivedeck Appeal should contact Ian Laing on 01592 583343.
