THIS week's Down Memory Lane pictures come from Nan Kettles and the Crossgates Community Council calendar of 2003.

Ann Kettles (nee Gibson) said: "Who remembers the bowery girls, your father had to be a miner from one of the local pits before you could enter to be one of these coveted girls. Does anyone remember taking park?".

The calendar shows some excellent photos of old Crossgates. For instance we have a view of Dunfermline Road in 1904. The road surface of that era was a little basic.

From the same year a picture of Rolland Retailers with Drysdale's Balers kart in the foreground.

And there is also a picture of the village school from 1925 shortly after it opened.

If you have any old photographs you would like to see in Down Memory Lane send these to editorial@centralfiftimes.co.uk or take these to the Times Office, 17 Bank Street, Lochgelly, on a Monday or a Friday.
