LOCHORE Meadows Country Park is to be the venue for a massive event to celebrate the young people of Fife.

Fife's celebrating the ‘Year of Young People’ with Park Fife 2018 - a free festival at Lochore Meadows on Saturday August 18.

Park Fife 2018 will offer a range of free activities for young people and will be hosted by Capital FM including: DJ set from Capital FM’s Garry Spence; a performance from tribute band ‘Little Mix Magic’; performances by local young musicians; a silent disco; a funfair; food outlets; and competitions and prizes

A global first, the Scottish Government has designated 2018 the Year of the Young People and is providing a platform to showcase Scotland’s young people.

Cllr Fay Sinclair, Fife Council's spokesperson for education and children’s services, said: “Park Fife 2018 is a celebration of Fife’s young people, recognising their talents, achievements and contribution to our community.

“I encourage as many as possible to get along to Lochore Meadows on Saturday August 18 and celebrate with us.

“It’s great we’re working in partnership with Stagecoach to help young people from all over Fife get to Park Fife 2018.”

Park Fife 2018 will start at 12 noon and end at 8pm. Entry is free but a ticket is needed. To secure your ticket go parkfife.eventbrite.co.uk Attendees will be given a wrist band upon entry.

There’s no charge for any activity once on site but you’ll have to pay for food or bring a picnic with you. Please note no bottles, cans or glasses will be permitted on site; bottled water will be available free of charge and non-alcoholic drinks can be bought from the food vendors.

The event is a celebration for all to enjoy but is aimed at 8-26 years old. Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied by a ticket holding parent or guardian aged 18+. Children aged 2 and under will not need a ticket. Security will be in attendance and no drugs or alcohol will be allowed on site.

There are two main entrances into Lochore Meadows Country Park. The first entrance is found on the main road leading through the village of Crosshill, situated between Lochgelly and Ballingry. Signage will direct you along the main driveway leading into the park. Parking at the Visitor Centre will be restricted to blue badge holders and buses only. The other main entrance is situated just off the Great North Road in Kelty. It’s around a mile’s walk into the park from here.

If you’re using Sat Nav to get to the event, the postcode is KY5 8BA. Free parking and disabled parking is available in large car parks situated a short walk from the event site. A smaller free car park at the North Road entrance is also available from which you can walk into the park along a newly refurbished path which will lead you around the loch.
