FIFE Council, in line with change to legislation, will no longer be putting up signs for residential disabled bays.

Bays can be seen throughout the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area in every community where disabled people have parking spaces outside or near their homes.

Previously signs were also provided with the white lines which hive off the disabled bay.

Derek Crowe, senior managers roads & transportation, said: “This is just to highlight to people that due to the changes in legislation we will no longer be providing signs for disabled parking bays.

"These will still, however, be marked out on the road and should only be used by Blue Badge holders. If any vehicles, not displaying a Blue Badge, parks in these spaces they may be liable for a Penalty Charge Notice.”
