BENARTY man Stevie Nardone is well on his way to his aim of providing lifesaving defibrillator equipment for Ballingry's St Kenneth's Primary School.

This week he reported that the proceeds from the race night he organised at Lochore Welfare Social Club in mid June, added to the amazing sum of £1,028 raised by pupils of St Kenneth's at a sponsored walk around Lochore Meadows Country Park, has brought the tally to £3,000.

He made getting a defib for the Hill Road school his goal after suffering a heart attack at an event at St Kenneth's in December.

Swift action by people at the event Stevie was attending kept him alive until the paramedic team arrived.

"It all showed me how important defibrillators are for places like schools and I decided to raise money to get one for St Kenneth's," he said.

"The support for the race night was excellent and the funds raised by the school pupils was really brilliant.

"The combined total is now £3,000 and I hope to be able to see two of these lifesaving machines at the school for the start of the new session."

Stevie added: "I simply cannot thank the people who supported the race night enough plus all the sponsors of the races.

"Their generosity was unbelievable and the sponsored walk by the children was amazing. I thank them all".
