IT is an exciting time for new Cowdenbeath Rotary Club president Norman Black.

Norman was installed by retiring president Erica Lock at Thursday night's meeting and now he is busy preparing for his forthcoming marriage to partner June this weekend.

The Lochore man, who spent his working life travelling hundreds of thousand miles in international banking, is looking forward to taking on the job of leading the Cowdenbeath club.

He is no stranger to being president of a rotary club as before he moved to Lochore he lived in Polmont where he had a spell as president of the local club there.

He told Thursday's meeting: "When we moved to the Central Fife area I wanted to stay in rotary and looked around several of the clubs in the West and Central Fife areas.

"From my first visit to the Cowdenbeath club I felt it was the right one for me as the welcome was so very warm and the hard work of the membership was really striking.

"I am really honoured to be asked to be president and I am looking forward to working with everyone to make our programme for 2018-19 work well.

"I have been struck by the expertise of the Cowdenbeath members in fields which see good funds being raised to help make a difference for people in our own community and abroad."

Norman added: "The Rotary International motto this year is 'Be the Inspiration' and I hope that we can be just that and make things better for a lot of people."

Senior vice president for the new Rotary year will be David Stevenson.
