COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing has expressed her concern at reports that Havelock Europa, a major Fife employer, are set to go into administration.

The company, which makes shop units and installs these, is now based in Kirkcaldy but many of their 300 plus workforce live in the Cowden-Gelly area.

Ms Ewing said: “It is very concerning indeed to hear that the difficulties at Havelock Europa have now reached the stage where they are on the verge of going into administration.

“Previously located in Dalgety Bay in my constituency, the company moved to Kirkcaldy in 2015 but they remained a very significant employer in Fife with 320 employees, many of whom will be constituents of mine.

“This will be a very worrying time indeed for them and I sincerely hope that a way can be found for this company to turn the corner.”

Havelock suggest on Friday that the company could go into administration by early next week.
