KEY items of potentially lifesaving equipment have been presented to two Cardenden football clubs thanks to a charity concert.

The event at the Railway Tavern, along with other fundraising activities, saw £2,500 realised and the two machines, which Dundonald Bluebell and Bowhill Rovers will have available on match days and training nights, will mean that any heart attack situation can be quickly tackled.

Said one of the organisers of the concert, David Penman: “The turn out at the Railway Tavern event was tremendous with over 100 people going along to support it.

"Bobby Dee compered the show and around 10 artistes entertained and when you add the money raised by Kat’s Mission Shop and those who ran in the Gung Ho 5km obstacle race in Edinburgh, then we had enough to buy the two defibs and also make a donation to the 2018 John Thomson football tournament.

"We are indebted to everyone who performed in the concert and to those who went along on the day plus everyone who has backed this venture.”

The two football clubs were warm in their thanks for the machines.

Local councillor Linda Erskine, chair of the Cowdenbeath Area Committee, made the presentation at Moorside and said that the defibrillators would be valuable equipment for the clubs.
