THE Wizard of Oz has provided a bit of history for Lochgelly And District Amateur Musical Association with the youngest ever cast taking the stage in a LADAMA production.

Some 60 youngsters are part of the cast in the role of Munchkins and they really are superb contributors.

This is a really colourful show which has some amazing dance scenes and some outstanding numbers.

The show takes the story of Dorothy Gale who lives on a farm in Kansas with Aunt 'Em, Uncle Henry and little dog Toto.

Dorothy feels unappreciated and dreams of a magic land (Over the Rainbow). Dorothy and Toto run away and meet up with showman professor Marvel, who urges her to return home but as she is arriving she is hit by a tornado and is knocked out by flying debris. and is transported to her magical dream.

She finds herself in the Land of Munchkins where the Good Witch Glinda appears. Meanwhile Dorothy accidentally kills the wicked witch of the East making her the Munchkins' heroine but she is soon confronted by the wicked Witch of the West (Miss Gulch), to avenge her sister's death. More trouble for Dorothy!

Niamh Logie plays Dorothy superbly well with a lovely voice and impressive acting skills.

Aunt 'Em is equally well played by Laura Campbell with Ross Hadden as Uncle Henry.

Their farm hands include Hickory (The Tin Man), expertly portrayed by Craig Tait, Zeke (superbly played by Andrew Gardiner) and Hunk (The Scarecrow) who Robert Forbes plays fantastically well.

Ali Fleming is very comfortable in the role of the Wicked Witch Almira Gulch while the Wizard of Oz and Professor Marvel is Kevin Keir, who continues to play roles excellently and enjoys the fun of the stage.

Glinda the Good witch is portrayed by Erin Gilliland-Patterson whose lovely voice is a treat to hear.

The amazing thing is how well behaved Toto is during the all the upheaval that the Wizard of Oz is about.

The production team of director Margaret Paul; musical director Suzanne Stewart and choreographer Jacqui Wilson can feel really pleased with the way the young cast adapts to this iconic production on Lochgelly Centre Theatre's stage.

The singing, dancing and general acting is first class.

There are a few famous numbers in this show and for this observer We're off to see the Wizard from Tinman, Dorothy and the Scarecrow; If only I had a Heart, from Tinman, Dorothy and the Trees and Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, from the Winkies are stick outs.
