LOCAL councillor Alex Campbell hopes that the word 'final' means just that in the decision announced by SEPA last week.
Speaking after attending the meeting between community representatives, politicians and representatives from SEPA, Shell and ExxonMobil Chemicals Limited, last midweek, Cllr Campbell said: “I believe there is a need for much greater clarity from SEPA on what exactly they mean by a final written warning as they repeatedly failed to clarify this at the meeting.
"They were also pushed by a number of MSPs to release the correspondence between themselves and the two petrochemical companies and I hope they will do so.
“I also take the view that we need an independent examination of the condition of the plant so we can understand why the number of breakdowns at the site seem to be on the increase”.
