P7 children from Crossgates Primary School won the Advocacy Award for Tayside and Fife Region, after participating in the Junior Mock Court Project.
The children attended the ceremony in Edinburgh last Tuesday where they performed a hip hop dance and collected the award.
Their teacher, Lisa O’Donnell, said: “The project was an amazing experience and I am incredibly proud of the children for their enthusiasm, hard work and effort.
"Working on the Mock Court Project certainly helps the children develop life skills and engage them in the practice of law.”
The children were the only school in Fife to be recognised at the national award ceremony.
The project began back in October where the children worked with a real solicitor to develop a legal case.
They also had to become researchers, witnesses, court artists, gown makers and journalists. There were roles for everyone. Then in December, the children presented their case at Dundee Sheriff Court.
The school hopes to be part of the project again next year.
