CONTINUED problems with 'scatter flats' in a Cardenden street has led to a resident raising a petition asking for something to be done about the constant problems she says she has experienced.

Kathleen Can says that there are several flats in Muirtonhill Road which are used by Fife Council to house people who need a home and often the one next to her is populated by those who have come out of prison.

Kathleen says that at times her life is made very stressful by the disturbance caused by residents of the flats and she hopes that she can make her point by getting the other residents of the street to sign the petition.

There are a total of 32 scatter flats between Lochgelly and Cardenden/

Said Kathleen: "Life at times is very difficult with the disturbance caused by the people housed in these flats.

"To have three in such a small street is a bit over the top I feel and I ask myself what can I do.

"I own my property and I wonder how I will be able to sell it with everything that is going on next to me."

There are 12 scatter flats in Cardenden and chair of Cowdenbeath Area Committee, Councillor Linda Erskine, is concerned at how often there could be as many as three of these flats in close proximity.

She said that she intended to see if there is any way that the sort of problems talked about by Kathleen Can can be avoided.

The flats in Cardenden sees three in Muirtonhill Road, two in Hyndloup Terrace, two in Cluny Park, two in Dundonald Park, two in Denfield Avenue and one in Denfield Drive.
