THE Dogs Trust will benefit from a donation on behalf of former Community Worker, Evelyn Irvine, who served the Cowdenbeath/Lochgelly area for many years with Fife Council.

Broad Street Centre Management Committee have donated £500 to the popular dogs charity, a cause which Evelyn continues to be inspired by.

Presenting the donation on behalf of Evelyn was Centre chairman, Danny Kinloch, who said: “When Evelyn moved to Broad Street from the Lochgelly office, she brought her four-legged companion too – her golden Labrador friend was always around somewhere and lots of people will remember the two of them together.

"We were delighted to make this donation on behalf of Evelyn to a very worthy cause.”

Receiving the cheque on Friday, at Broad Street Centre, was Emma-Louise Livingstone and her dog Serge, from the Glasgow office of Dogs Trust.

She said: “We would like to extend a huge thank-you to Evelyn and the team at Broad Street Centre whose kind donation to Dogs Trust will benefit so many dogs in our care.

"This contribution will enrich their lives and provide them with food, toys and bedding so they can enjoy their home comforts while waiting on potential owners coming forward to give them forever homes.”

She added: “Dogs Trust cares for thousands of dogs each year and we couldn’t do this without dedicated supporters, who continue to help our cause in many different ways, including donations, sponsoring dogs at our rehoming centres, volunteering their time or adopting their own canine companions.”

Broad Street Centre is due to close in the next few weeks as work is completed at the new £2.8m Maxwell Centre in Stenhouse Street.
