ONE of Cowdenbeath's young starlets has been chosen by Scotland to contest the Under 18 Centenary Shield Home International series.

Cowden officials are absolutely delighted to confirm that young striker Ryan Connelly has been named as one of the players who will represent the Scottish Schools FA in this year’s (2017/18) International matches in the Schools Under-18 Centenary Shield Competition.

The 17-year old Beath High School pupil was selected after numerous Scottish Cup ties, area trials and a Final Trial. Ryan is the only Fife based player to be selected. Said Cowdenbeath director David Allan: "On behalf of everyone at Central Park and all Cowden fans we give Ryan our heartiest congratulations and very best wishes on this much deserved honour".

Ryan, at only 17, has made a number of starts for the Blue Brazil this season and has shown skill factors which have been commented upon by opposition managers.

He has played in most of the club's U20 team's games in the East Development League and has been a regular marksman.
