WELL what a night last Friday was.... I just wanted to take a moment of reflection and everyone for all your contributions to the switch-on of the Cardenden Christmas Lights.

Before I do this.... not all of you will be aware of the stresses and the list of 'unfortunate events' leading up to Friday's event and now isn't the time to explain, we just need to enjoy what we have achieved...

Now each year there is always something that doesn't go to plan but this year has topped them all!... I won't go into detail but at the next meeting in February we will provide an update.

As far as anyone needs to know the night was a success and the lights new and old are stunning.

So to continue with the Thank You's...To everyone that provided Home baking and sweet treats for the Cake and Candy stall.... which included various homemade tablet, coconut macaroons, summer berry tarts, truffles, black bun, marshmallow men, tiffin, fruit loaves, Shortbread and the delicious still warm Banana loaf... there was so much more than i have mentioned and all of your donations were greatly received...

The memory Baubles and Christmas Wish bags were made by Mary, Bob and a new member to the group...Shirley Greenwood, and as always these were a popular purchase..

I have already spoken with Mr Duncan and David Doig this morning but a really big thank-you for assisting with the transport of the tables and chairs and to David's wife for her generous donation of tablet.

The Church Choir...for attending and giving us a lovely rendition of Christmas Carol's....and the Cardenden Santa Train...

Margaret Wilson and all the staff at our local Co op (and the Co op organisation) for all there assistance with the free hot drinks and mince pies...

Scott Brennan and team for all the work with the lights on the Christmas Tree..(this year is the best it has looked)

Keira for the event poster...To the background elves who make all the arrangements with purchasing the raffle prizes, arrangements/organising the event, making of the baubles, provide personal storage space for all stock - (which is Mary and Bob Murdoch's dining room)

Bill Mitchell for photographing the event...

Fife Council and Blachere for all there assistance this year with our lights and to Ian who is on hand to assist with the actual switch on...

To Cllr Linda Erskine who provided a cash donation prior to the event..To everyone who helped us on the night..

In total we raised just over £650 on the night which was a brilliant amount and will go towards the cost for the Christmas Lights and ongoing maintenance and storage.

The only expenses that are claimed for this event are for the purchase of the raffle prizes, selection boxes for the Santa Train, chocolates for the kids and the items that are needed to make the memory baubles and Christmas Wish bags. All other items such as the cake and candy treats are donated and no expenses are given from the Environment Group funds.

These donations we are gratefully thankful for and to everyone who has given up their time to either bake goodies or help set up on the evening are very much appreciated...

VICKY MURDOCH,

Cardenden Environment Group.
