PEOPLE throughout the area who may think they have a gambling problem, have been urged to take part in a special process which could help them.

Peter Grant, MP for Kinglassie and Cardenden, is urging people who feel their lives is affected by gambling, to take part in a special consultation.

Commenting, Peter said: “A lot of people like a wee flutter on the horses or the bingo.

"As long as you keep it under control, gambling can be a harmless and enjoyable pastime.

“Too many people are finding that gambling is taking over their lives, running up huge debts and sometimes turning to crime to try and pay these off".

He added: “The UK Government is consulting on possible changes to the rules on gambling, and in particular on 'Fixed Odds Betting Terminals'.

"If you want to contribute to the consultation please go to the gov.uk website and submit the online form.

“If you’re affected in any way by problem gambling contact the National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133. The number is free and is open 8am till midnight, seven days a week.”
