FIVE Year-old Belle Carnegie had long locks, until she wanted to lose these for the Little Princess Trust.

The Hill of Beath Primary School P1 pupil had heard of children needing wigs to offset hairloss during getting treatment for cancer and felt losing her long hair was something worth doing.

So mum Chelsey spoke to her friend Stacey, who works at Lorna Clark's salon on Cowdenbeath High Street, and the plot was hatched.

The gallant P1 pupil went along for an autumn holiday trim and Stacey was soon busy getting Belle's flowing hair trimmed.

Within half an hour Belle had contributed a considerable length of hair which the Little Princess Trust can turn into more than one wig for a child going through cancer treatment.

Chelsey said: "I am not really sure where Belle got the idea from, she has talked about it for some time now, but when I spoke to my friend Stacey she said she would do it as part of her donation to the cause.

"So along we went to Lorna Clark's salon and in no time at all Belle had new look and a lot of hair was being gathered to be made into wigs for children.

"In addition Belle had managed to persuade a lot of people to back her with donations and her justgiving page https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/chelsey-ritchie1?utm_id=25 has to date raised £1,082 for the Trust.

"She has also been fortunate that a mum of one of Belle's friends works with one of the banks and she is going to try and get match funding of up to £500 for her effort."

Chelsey and Belle's dad, Max Carnegie, are really proud of her initiative and were at the salon to see the transformation of their daughter take place.
